Eight of the Best Used Trucks for Amsterdam Drivers

Finding the perfect vehicle should never feel like guesswork. It should always be an educated process built on looking at what’s out there, understanding what you need in a truck, and then choosing the right one. As your used car dealer near Amsterdam, we’re passionate about the car-buying process, and that includes making sure all of our customers drive away in something you love. When it comes to used trucks, you have a number of fantastic options available to you, so many that it can make it difficult to navigate them all. We’re going to take you through eight of our favorite options when looking at used pickups to help give you a sense of which ones might work best for what you need. We’ll highlight some details of the 2022 models of these trucks to make comparison easier when looking at what they offer.
The Chevy Silverado 1500
We’re going to start with full-size trucks, of which the Chevy Silverado 1500 is one of the best options out there. This beast has been around for more than 25 years and has proven itself time and again as one of the best trucks in America. Looking at the 2022 Silverado 1500 as a frame of reference, you can find four different engines, starting with a 2.7L Turbo with 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque, along with a 6.2L V8 that delivers 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque and a powerful turbo-diesel. When properly equipped, a 2022 Silverado 1500 can handle up to 13,300 lbs of towing or 2,270 lbs of payload capacity. This is a bold and impressive truck with a lot of trim levels, so you’ll find plenty of options when looking at used models.
The Ford F-150
Next, the Ford F-150 has been the best-selling truck in America for more than 40 years, setting a standard and creating a legacy that no other pickup can match. That means there are a lot of used F-150 models out there. Even if you’re just focusing on recent years, it continues to sell well, so there are plenty to choose from when looking at pre-owned pickups. The 2022 F-150 has a half-dozen engines available, including a turbocharged V6 hybrid with 430 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. When properly configured, the 2022 F-150 offers 14,000 lbs of towing capacity and up to 3,325 lbs of payload rating, making it an incredibly capable truck.
The Ram 1500
The third option when looking at domestic full-size trucks is the Ram 1500, which is another terrific choice as you explore used models. Ram only makes full-size pickups, and they do it incredibly well. Although they’re no longer making it, used models can include the legendary HEMI V8 engine that delivers fantastic power for driving around Amsterdam. The 5.7L HEMI V8 with an eTorque mild hybrid system delivers 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque in the 2022 Ram 1500, allowing for 12,750 lbs of maximum towing. You can get a Ram pickup with up to 2,300 lbs of payload capacity when properly configured, so keep that in mind as you look at used models.

The Toyota Tundra
Our last choice for a full-size truck, the Toyota Tundra is an impressive machine that proves pickups designed by companies overseas can still get a lot done. The Tundra has two different engines available for the 2022 model year, starting with a 3.5L turbocharged V6 with up to 389 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. If you want massive power in your truck, look for a MAX version of this engine that delivers 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque, ensuring you can get your job done each day and make the most out of the weekend. The standard engine lets the Tundra handle up to 12,000 lbs of towing and 1,940 lbs of payload capacity, making it a great choice for a wide range of tasks and one of our favorite used trucks.
The Chevy Colorado
The first of our midsize options, the Chevy Colorado, is an impressive truck that’s been around for many years. It started off as a smaller compact truck, but a redesign turned it into the midsize pickup we know and love today. This is an amazing choice if you’re looking for a truck to take off-road, thanks to its smaller size and impressive maneuverability. Look for a Z71 or ZR2 trim level if that’s what you’re interested in. The 2022 Colorado has numerous engines, including a 308-hp 3.6L V6 and a turbo-diesel with 369 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped, it can handle up to 7,700 lbs of towing or 1,550 lbs of payload, making it a great choice for getting some work done and enjoying your time off.
The Ford Ranger
Another great option for a midsize truck, the Ford Ranger, similarly started off as a smaller compact pickup before being redesigned and reintroduced as a midsize model. Ford tends to keep things simple with fewer options for the Ranger, which can make it easier to find what you’re looking for in a used truck. For example, the 2022 Ranger only has a 2.3L engine available with 270 hp, which allows for up to 7,500 lbs of towing and 1,905 lbs of payload capacity. These numbers are quite impressive even without a bunch of options, so you know any Ford Ranger you find will be able to tackle whatever you want.

The Honda Ridgeline
The Honda Ridgeline is a great example of a truck that might not be as powerful as some options out there, but it works great as a daily driver. Honda keeps things simple by offering just one engine on this truck. The 2022 Ridgeline has a 3.5L V6 with 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. One thing that’s great about it, however, is that every 2022 Ridgeline has all-wheel drive, so you don’t have to worry about rear-wheel drive models like you’ll find on many other used trucks. With just 5,000 lbs of maximum towing capacity, the Ridgeline isn’t as capable as the previous models we looked at, but it’s fun to drive and can still help you tackle a wide range of tasks.
The Toyota Tacoma
Finally, the Toyota Tacoma is a great midsize truck to look for when exploring used models, again showcasing how well Toyota builds capable trucks. There are two engines you can find on 2022 models: a 2.7L I-4 with 159 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque or a 3.5L V6 with 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. Both are great, though we certainly prefer the V6, which also lets this truck handle up to 6,800 lbs of towing, surpassing the Honda Ridgeline. Toyota is well known for its long-term reliability and capability, which makes the Tacoma a great truck to look for as you shop for the perfect pre-owned pickup.
Used Trucks Are Ideal for Getting Around Amsterdam
As you can see, you have a lot of options available to you when looking for a great used truck that’s fun to drive, capable, and reliable. We didn’t even mention a variety of other models. For example, if you like the performance and capabilities of the Chevy models but want more refined features and options, look for a used GMC Sierra 1500 or Canyon (similar to the Silverado 1500 and Colorado, respectively). If you’re interested in a midsize truck with fantastic off-road capabilities, you might look for a used Jeep Gladiator. Ultimately, however, what you need and want should dictate which models you focus on.
