Trim Levels and Price
The 2016 Chevrolet Spark is available for Troy and Schenectady drivers in three enticing trim levels.
LS: Starting at $12,660, even the entry-level LS is equipped with a rear vision camera, an OnStar system, Bluetooth wireless technology, Siri Eyes Free functionality, and a Chevrolet MyLink system with a 7-inch diagonal color touch-screen.
1LT: Starting at $14,685, the 1LT makes a number of upgrades to let you get more out of your Spark, including a 6-speaker audio system – with a complimentary 3-month trial of SiriusXM satellite radio – a remote keyless entry system, and steering-wheel mounted controls for phone, audio, and cruise settings.
2LT: Starting at $16,185, a top-of-the-line 2LT comes with a rear park assist system to help you back up, heated driver and front passenger seats for year-round comfort, a leather-wrapped steering wheel to wrap your hands around, and a driver information center with Eco Drive Assist function to let you burn less fuel.
The 2016 Chevrolet Spark is able to zip and zoom through the city streets of Troy and Schenectady in style, with noticeably superior acceleration and cruising power compared to the competition. That’s thanks to the 98 horsepower, 94 lb-ft of torque 1.4L ECOTEC four-cylinder engine you’ll find beneath the hood. Those are solid numbers for a vehicle this size, and they enliven the Spark with a serious amount of lively energy.
A five-speed manual transmission system comes as standard to allow for up to 30 mpg in the city and 41 on the highway. However, the optional CVT (continuously variable transmission) system uses two settings – one simulating lower gears for enhanced acceleration, and the other mimicking higher gears for open-road cruising – to produce up to an even more impressive 31 mpg in the city and 41 on the highway.
Troy and Schenectady drivers who have experienced previous Spark incarnations might be surprised once they slip inside the 2016 model. The cabin feels a little larger, but the dimensions have been taken down a notch to make the vehicle easier to drive in the city. Of course, there’s still a generous 27.2 cubic feet of cargo space on offer.
There’s also a renewed sense of styling. The old gauge pod is gone, replaced by a conventional gauge cluster, and the fittings are richer and more luxurious than you’d find in either outgoing Sparks or the current competition.
There’s also a vast range of standard and available onboard technologies, including:
MyLink Touchscreen Infotainment: Control your driving environment through a 7-inch touchscreen, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allowing full smartphone integration to let you access select apps, your playlists, or navigate with Google Maps
OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi: Always searching for a Wi-Fi connection? Don’t worry, you can make you Spark a moving mobile hotspot.
OnStar RemoteLink: You’ll be able to control your car from virtually anywhere you go, with an app that lets you lock and unlock doors or activate the car’s horn and lights to help you locate it.
The 2016 Chevrolet Spark provides a compelling selection of safety features as standard, including:
You’ll also benefit from the OnStar service, which provides automatic crash notification, on-demand roadside assistance, and stolen-vehicle assistance. For advanced driver assistance technology, just add the optional forward collision alert and lane departure warning systems.
