Trims and Pricing
The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD will come in a range of trim levels to meet the needs of many different kinds of pickup owners. There should be an entry-level work truck with an affordable price tag under $40,000. There will also be LT and LTZ trims with excellent features, and a top-tier High Country model that will come loaded with luxury features. This high-end model should be priced around $53,000 MSRP.
One thing that we do know about the new 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is that there will a few new colors available, including Siren Red Tintcoat, Butte Red Metallic, and Red Hot. We expect this heavy-duty truck to continue to offer both 6.5-foot and 8-foot bed lengths, along with regular cab, double cab, and crew cab configurations. Another notable feature confirmed for the new model year is a remote locking tailgate, making it easier than ever to lock or unlock the bed. We also know that the new truck will be available with two new wheels options: 18-inch chrome and 20-inch five-spoke forged aluminum wheels.
Performance and Powertrain
We’re almost sure that the engine options and towing and hauling capacity of the 2016 Silverado 2500HD will carry over for the new model year. That’s certainly not a bad thing, because you can still choose between these burly powertrains:
- A 6.0L V8 engine good for 360 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission should come standard.
- The bi-fuel 6.0L V8 motor should continue to be offered because it lets drivers use compressed natural gas or regular gas.
- The only engine upgrade option is the 6.6L turbocharged diesel V8 that makes 397 hp and 765 lb-ft of torque.
As of last year, the 2015 model could pull 17,900 pounds using a fifth-wheel hitch and haul around 3,760 pounds of payload in the bed. There’s no reason to think that those will go down. If anything, Chevy could figure out a way to boost those ratings slightly.
Interior Design and Features
Early information indicates that the new Chevrolet 2500HD should be equipped with some advanced features to make your life easier for the 2016 model year. We’re expecting to see a MyLink infotainment system with 7-inch touchscreen in all models, along with a HD radio, and wireless smartphone charging. The Silverado 2500HD will likely include:
- Power accessories

- Rubber floor coverings
- Vinyl or cloth upholstery
We also expect the 2016 model to be available with a long list of options that include luxurious features like leather upholstery, upgraded MyLink infotainment features, navigation systems, and plenty of advanced safety technology.
Advanced Safety Features
All of the new 2016 Silverado 2500HD model will come standard with safety features like electronic stability and traction control, anti-lock brakes, a number of airbags, and more. On most models, the OnStar telematics system should be standard. This high tech system includes features like automatic collision notification, enhanced roadside assistance, and stolen vehicle tracking. Some features that should still be offered as options include:
- Rearview camera
- Lane departure alert
- Forward collision alert
- Safety alert seat
- Front and rear parking assistance
