What Chevy’s Warranty Covers on Certified Preowned Vehicles

Along with Chevy certified service in Albany NY, you can also count on them to provide you with peace of mind when purchasing a used vehicle; particularly a Certified Preowned one. With used cars, the biggest downfall is the possibility of an unexpected problem. While this is possible with a newer car, it’s far less likely. That’s because a new car might not have the wear and tear a vehicle with 50,000 miles on it has.

Chevy (and other automakers) knew this is a common concern when it comes to consumers looking into buying a used car, which is why they started offering certified preowned vehicles that are backed by warranties. These warranties are able to provide peace of mind for consumers who are browsing the used car market.

What is a Certified Preowned Vehicle?

A certified preowned vehicle is a vehicle that’s under a certain mileage, a certain amount of years old, and has been rigorously inspected and deemed worthy for resale. Even though the mileage and cut-off year might vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, all certified preowned vehicles look like a new car; but are much cheaper than the price of one.

Essentially, a CPO is a used car with relatively low miles, but still a new enough model year to be relevant in the market. Along with relevancy, they also have a new car feel for a cheaper price. But, they are still used cars. Therefore, something could potentially break. Which is why Chevy has two warranties to give you the peace of mind you need when purchasing one of their certified preowned vehicles.

The Warranty Coverage

Chevy actually offers two warranties on their certified preowned vehicles: a Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty and a Powertrain Limited Warranty. Combined, these two warranties provide you coverage for almost anything that can go wrong on a vehicle.

Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty

Chevy’s Bumper-to-Bumper warranty covers almost everything alone, besides normal wear or maintenance items/powetrains. Apart form those, it also excludes tire damage/wear, damages caused by misuse, theft, fire, and collision. Basically, it covers anything that isn’t caused by an outside influence. What it does cover, though, is anything that would go wrong with the vehicle from just daily driving. If the ball joint started failing, axle broke, etc. Anything along those lines.

With this warranty, it gives you the peace of mind needed for anything that could go wrong within 12-months/12,000-miles.

Powertrain Limited Warranty

Every certified preowned vehicle sold by Chevy also comes with a powertrain limited warranty. This warranty is there to put your mind at ease when it comes to buying a CPO vehicle, and covers you if something happens to the transmission, transaxle, transfer case, engine, or drive system. This warranty also has a few perks included; like a 0$ deductible, roadside assistance, courtesy transportation, and it’s also transferable to future owners if it’s sold within the allotted mileage/time of the warranty.

Just like the Bumper-to-Bumper warranty though, it doesn’t cover your powertrain from any outside sources: misuse of your powertrain, failure to maintain it, damage caused by an accident, etc. Still, the fact you are covered for 5-years/100,000 miles is a great weight off your shoulders, and shows that Chevy trusts their vehicles to provide you with a dependable ride; new or used.
