We all know about the storied prowess of the Chevy Corvette, with its impressive race-ready rumble under the hood and stylish design throughout that came together to make this Chevy one of the most iconic – and most desired – models out available at your local Chevrolet dealer. But when it comes to beating the Corvette at its own game, simply nothing will do but another Corvette – this one decked out with even more powerful features sure to take you the distance in total racing style. This, of course, is the legendary Chevy Corvette Grand Sport, and it’s back for another trip around the track for the 2017 model year.

First built to conquer the competition back in 1963, this famed racer came in the form of five unique prototypes of the ultimate aerodynamic design, hauling a 6.2L small block V8 engine and lightweight construction for total control on the track. All five of these original models still exist, and served as the basis for future generations in 1996 and 2010 with ever-enhanced capabilities. Now, back and ready to roll for 2017, the Grand Sport boasts more muscle than ever thanks to its 6.2L LT1 V8 engine, capable of 460 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque.

This newly-redesigned Grand Sport also boasts several stylistic changes in the interest of improving its aerodynamics, including a lower and longer hood, wider fenders and tires, and cooling vents for the brakes and engine on the front fascia. These, plus cooling ducts and unique air blades over the inlets on the rear fender help boost your performance in high-heat and high-stress driving conditions.

Drivers of the new Grand Sport can choose to have total control with the standard seven-speed automatic transmission with Active Rev Match technology for easy shifting every time, or upgrade to the available eight-speed paddle-shift automatic for smooth and seamless acceleration with a quick manual response. Plus, with the available Z07 Performance Package, owners can enjoy massive standard Brembo brakes, sport-tuned suspension with standard Magnetic Ride technology and a standard Electronic Limited-Slip Differential, and lightweight 19-inch front and 20-inch rear tires for total control on the road. With performance features like these built so integrally into the car, the Grand Sport is truly born to be a great racer – and with just one lap around the track, you’ll agree.

Featuring some of the most advanced engine technology around mated to some serious exterior styling, the Grand Sport is back with a vengeance to make your track day feel like a whole new kind of driving experience. And for those drivers who simply can’t settle for anything less than the best, the Grand Sport also comes in a limited production Collector edition, featuring exclusive Watkins Glen Gray body color with Tension Blue fender hash marks and full-length Satin Black stripe, including unique cup-style black wheels and a distinct Tension Blue leather and suede wrapped interior with blue accent stitching.

Whether you’re a lifelong Corvette fan or have only gazed longingly at the ones at your local Chevrolet dealer, few models can truly compare to the raw performance power of the Corvette Grand Sport. Stay in touch with your local Chevy dealer to get the first heads up about this vehicle hitting the lots, and get yourself in one fast before they all zoom away.
